How to Use FTP on Windows XP
  1. Click the "Start" button; then click the "Run" icon in the Start menu. This will open a Run window.
  2. Type "cmd" in the "Open" text box in the Run window; then click the "OK" button. This will open a command prompt window.
  3. Type "ftp" in the command prompt window and then press the "Enter" key. This will set the command prompt in the command prompt window to FTP mode.
  4. Type "open" in the command prompt window followed by the name of the website to which you want to send your file; then click the "Enter" key. If you are prompted for the user name and password you use for the website you are connecting to, enter them.
  5. Type "send" in the command prompt window followed by the full path to and name of the file you want to send. For example, to send a file named picture.jpg that is located in your My Documents folder, you would type the following, replacing YourUserName with the actual name you use to log in to Windows XP :
    send C:\Documents and Settings\YourUserName\My Documents\picture.jpg
  6. Verify that the path and file name you typed in are correct; then click the "Send" key. This will send your file by FTP and complete the process.

How to Use the Fetch FTP client for Mac:
  1. Launch the Fetch FTP client.
  2. Click on File and select New Connection.
  3. In the New Connection form, enter your FTP information:
    • Hostname - type your hosted domain name or your utility domain name.
    • Username - type your main FTP username.
    • Connect using - select FTP or FTP with TLS/SSL (for a secure connection).
    • Password - type your FTP password.
  4. Click Connect.
  5. You will be connected to your FTP space. Use the Put button to upload from your local computer to the hosting server.

How to use FTP through Windows Explorer
  1. Open two Windows Explorer windows. (From the Start menu, select All Programs, then Accessories, then Windows Explorer.)
  2. In one Windows Explorer window, display the folder you are copying from or to.
  3. In the other Windows Explorer window, type the address of the ftp site. For example, ftp://ftp.example.com/. The address bar might not be displayed. To display it, right-click the menu bar and select Address Bar.
  4. Log on dialog box. You should see the Log On As dialog box. Enter the user name and password as appropriate.
  5. Click Log On. Drag files between the Windows Explorer dialog boxes as needed.

How do I upload my files using FTP in a browser?

The follow article explains how to upload your files to our server using FTP (File Transfer Protocal) through a web browser. Most graphical operating systems have a browser installed by default. The basic idea is to first establish a connection with our server and your computer and then upload the files. This will transfer your files to our server.

To upload your files using a browser, please follow these steps:

  1. Open your web browser and enter ftp://username@domainname.com in the address bar.
  2. You will be prompted to enter the password for this account.


    Once you successfully login you will see your folder on our server.


    You can now drag files from your local computer into this folder to upload files to our server.
